Higgsfield and Runway, set side by side on what each page prices
Runway is the one of the two whose second converts into money: 12 credits a second at $0.01 a credit on its API page, and a plan page that states 625 credits as 52 seconds of Gen-4.5. Higgsfield meters credits per generation that vary by model, so its page prices access. As of 2026-10-13.
1What this ledger already records
Runway's own credit rate and expiry rules, and the ledger's published seconds from a pipeline that prints a credit price beside its credit rate.
- Published per-second price12 credits per second at $0.01 a credit, which is $0.12 per second
- Unused creditsStandard and Pro monthly credits do not roll over and reset within 24 hours of the billing date; on Max up to one month of unused credits rolls over; separately purchased credits never expireanswered per plan
- Wan 3.0 480P10 credits per second, about $0.06the default tier
- Wan 3.0 720P19 credits per second, about $0.12
- Wan 3.0 1080P38 credits per second, about $0.24
- Credit priceOne credit costs $0.0149 in the smallest pack and $0.0078 in the largestthe range the conversion rests on
- Unused creditsMonthly membership credits are added to the balance and spend like purchased credits; cancelling stops renewal at the end of the paid periodanswered under its own heading
- ConcurrencyA free account runs three generations at once; the paid tiers run five, eight, ten, fifteen and twenty, and the top three add a priority queuea figure for every tier

2Two pages, two ways of metering
Runway's plan page puts a plan and a unit of output next to each other: Standard is $15 a month, or $12 billed annually, and 625 credits are stated as 52 seconds of Gen-4.5. Its API page goes further and prints 12 credits a second with the credit price beside it, $0.01, which is $0.12 a second. That is a page a budget can multiply against.
Higgsfield's page prices access rather than output. Starter is $19 a month and Plus $59, or $47 billed annually, with a $3 pack of 40 credits for one-off use, and the video figure is credits per generation that vary by model. The page states what the plan unlocks — Cinema Studio with its camera presets and its 50 references, Soul ID trained from 20 or more photos, audio models — and leaves the seconds to the buyer.
3What each plan adds beyond a generation
The difference between the two is mostly in what surrounds the model call. Higgsfield's plan is built around running a shoot inside one product: an agent that plans and executes, a studio with genre, lens, aperture and lighting controls and 30 or more camera movement presets, up to 50 references in a generation, and clips of up to 30 seconds.
Runway's plan is built around finishing. Music, voice and sound-effect generation sit inside it, custom voice clones start at Pro, and 4K upscaling with HDR, ProRes and image sequences arrives on Max. Neither list is a rate, and both decide which piece of work never has to leave the tool — which is a real cost saving that never shows up in a per-second comparison.
4Credits at the end of a month, which the two pages answer differently
Runway's rules are stated per plan: Standard and Pro monthly credits do not roll over and reset within 24 hours of the billing date, Max rolls over up to one month, and credits bought separately never expire. Higgsfield's plan text says individual plan credits reset each month. Both are use-it-or-lose-it arrangements on their entry tiers, and both make an assumption that a production should test against its own calendar.
A series that shoots in bursts is the case where this line decides more than the headline figure: a month's credits bought for three days of generation are paid for twelve times a year. The same arithmetic is why the ledger separates a purchased credit from a monthly grant wherever a vendor distinguishes them.
5Where the two sit against the ledger's own seconds
The pipeline this register tracks as a channel prints both halves of the arithmetic — credits a second and a credit price — and states its clip ceiling per tier and its compositing charge separately. That is the shape a comparison needs and the shape neither of the two above publishes: an output rate on the same page as the unit it is priced in.
So the useful question between these two is not which is cheaper. It is which one lets a production write down a plausible cost per finished second before it commits a month, and which one it would choose for the parts of the work that never become seconds at all — design, references, camera decisions, the end card.
6What each maker prints on its own pages
| Maker | What its own pages state | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| Higgsfield | Starter $19/month billed monthly; Plus $59/month, or $47/month billed annually; a $3 one-time pack with 40 credits Credits per generation vary by model; plans include time-limited “unlimited” access to some models | 2026-10-13 |
| Runway | Free: 125 one-time credits; Standard $15/month ($12 billed annually), 625 credits = 52s of Gen-4.5 | 2026-10-13 |
| SceneMixer | “Analysis and the shot list are separate purchases from rendering, and nothing obliges you to render. People do use the pipeline this way — a script in, a structured shot list out, the footage shot conventionally.” | 2026-10-13 |
Inclusion rule. Rows are the makers named on this page plus one pipeline this register meters seconds on. A maker's cell carries its own price line, summarised in that page's wording; the pipeline's cell is one sentence quoted from its published guides. A page that carries no figure for the point is recorded that way rather than estimated. Order. Alphabetical by maker.
| Question asked of both pages | Higgsfield | Runway |
|---|---|---|
| What starts a paid plan | Starter at $19 a month, Plus at $59 or $47 billed annually | Standard at $15 a month, or $12 billed annually, with 625 credits |
| Can a second be computed | No: credits per generation, varying by model | Yes, on the API page: 12 credits a second at $0.01 a credit |
| Unspent monthly credits | Individual plan credits reset each month | Standard and Pro reset within 24 hours of the billing date; Max rolls over up to one month; purchased credits never expire |
| What the plan adds | Cinema Studio camera controls and up to 50 references; Soul ID from 20 or more photos | Music, voice and sound-effect generation; 4K upscaling with HDR, ProRes and image sequences on Max |
Inclusion rule. Questions answered from each vendor's own page, read 2026-10-13. A question a page does not address is written here as the vendor leaving it open, which describes the page rather than the product. Order. As the questions are listed above.
7What the threads counted
The material collected for this column counts Runway's posts and mentions, and the comparisons people run. The pair below is the one that names Runway most often.
| Maker | Posts | Comment mentions | Positive | Negative |

Inclusion rule. Makers named on this page that the collection counted. Positive and negative tally the posts read, and a post arguing with itself can land in both. Order. Descending by posts.

8When the other tool is the better buy
- The budget needs a second that converts into money — Runway's API page prints 12 credits a second with the credit price on the same page, which is the arrangement this ledger treats as a rate.
- A look or a person is trained once and then reused — Soul ID builds an identity from 20 or more reference photos, and Cinema Studio accepts up to 50 references in one generation.
- Finishing has to happen in the same tool — 4K upscaling, HDR, ProRes and image sequences on Max, with voice clones from Pro, remove a hand-off that a per-second comparison cannot price.
