What a second of AI video costs, channel by channel

What happens to credits nobody spent

Monthly credits that do not roll over. Purchased units valid for 180 days. Purchased credits that do roll over. Membership credits that spend like purchased ones. And one pricing FAQ that asks the question and does not answer it. As of 2026-09-12.

Two balances, two rules, on the same accountSeveral vendors here reset the allowance that arrives with a subscription and let separately purchased credits survive. A single yes or no about rollover would be wrong for one half of the account, which is why the wording and the half it applies to are both recorded.Monthly allowancePurchased creditsTypical ruleResets, no rolloverRolls over where statedWhat it means for planningUse it inside the month or lose itBuy ahead of a shoot safelyWhere it is publishedA plan feature lineA separate sentence, sometimesOne account, two rules, rarely stated together

Inclusion rule. Recorded from the vendor's own pricing or documentation page. A question raised in an FAQ without an answer is recorded as raised and unanswered, not as no rollover. Order. From the shortest published life to the longest, with the unanswered case last.

1Expiry is a second price nobody quotes

A rate per second describes what a generation costs. Expiry describes what an unused balance costs, and for a production that buys a month ahead and shoots in bursts, that can be the larger number. A plan whose credits reset monthly is effectively a use-it-or-lose-it budget.

None of the per-second comparisons on this site capture it, which is why it has a column of its own rather than a footnote on the rate.

2Monthly grants and purchased units are usually different

Several vendors here treat the two differently on purpose: the allowance that comes with a subscription resets, and credits bought separately survive. That is a coherent design and it means a single yes or no about rollover would be wrong for both halves.

This table keeps the vendor's own wording, including which half it applies to, because the distinction decides whether buying ahead of a shoot is sensible or wasteful.

3An unanswered FAQ is its own kind of fact

One vendor lists the rollover question on its pricing page and the answer beneath it addresses something else. That is more informative than silence: the vendor knows readers ask, and the page still does not say.

Recording it as no rollover would invent a term. Recording it as rollover would invent a different one. It is recorded as what it is, with the date the page was read.
