Pika on controlling a shot before it renders
Pika holds the sole rating of one for shot control. The floor in this column means a free-text prompt box with nothing published about structure, and seven other rows sit one step above it. As of 2026-09-12.
| Point | As the rubric has it, or as the table records it |
|---|---|
| The question this column asks | How much of the shot can be specified before generating? |
| What this tool rates | 1 of 5 |
| Tools holding the same value | One of the sixteen rated here |
| What a five looks like | A written shot list the tool consumes, editable before it renders |
| What sits at the bottom of the scale | Only a free-text prompt box, with nothing published about structure |
| Tools left unrated on this column | None of the sixteen |
Inclusion rule. The rubric's own wording for this criterion, with this tool's value beside it. Nothing here is taken from a demo, a benchmark or a review. Order. The question first, then the value, then the rule it was given under.

Inclusion rule. Tools rated on this rubric: a public English product page addressing at least four of the seven criteria. An unrated cell means nothing usable is published on that point. Order. Alphabetical by tool name.
2The floor is narrower than it sounds
Seven tools sit at two, which is also a prompt box; the difference at one is that nothing published adds structure to it at all, not a named move, not a duration, not a start frame. So the gap between one and two is small in features and visible in documentation.
Nothing else in the column sits at the floor, and the entry closest to it is an editing product where the question barely applies. Here it applies fully, which is what makes the value informative rather than a category artefact.
3What the rest of the row does with that
This is the lowest average in the table, carried by a four on cost transparency. The rate is readable in public, which is more than several higher-rated entries manage, and cost is the sole column on this row above three.
The average is the least useful number on this row. A reader whose binding constraint is a published price will find this entry answers it; a reader planning a season will find five of the seven columns answering in the wrong direction.
4Where a prompt-box product is the right purchase
For a single shot, structure is overhead. Typing a description and looking at the result is faster than filling in a shot list, and the value of a consumed shot list only appears when a shot has to be corrected, reviewed or matched to another one weeks later.
That is the honest reading of this cell. It is not a defect for the work the tool is aimed at, and it is the first column to check if the work is serial.
Ratings describe what each vendor publishes on its own pages, read 2026-09-12, and are given under the rule on how scoring works. This column across every tool is on shot control; this tool across all seven is on Pika. Nearby cells: Hailuo, sound, Veo and Flow, sound. All of them: single ratings.
