What a second of AI video costs, channel by channel

What the resolution step costs on MiniMax

MiniMax publishes two models with different steps. One charges eight cents a second at 768P and thirteen at 2K, a rise of about sixty per cent. The other starts lower, at five cents for 480P, and reaches eight at 768P. As of 2026-09-22.

Two models meeting at one shared tierBoth published models price 768P and both price it at eight cents a second. That overlap fixes a reference point, so the cheaper model's 480P tier reads as a step down from it and the dearer model's 2K tier as a step up. The cheaper model is published as accepting text and images only.H3-MaxH3480PFive cents a secondNot priced at this resolution768PEight cents a secondEight cents a second2KNot priced at this resolutionThirteen cents a secondStep between its own tiersAbout sixty per centAbout sixty per centInputs acceptedText and image to video onlyNo such restriction publishedThe shared tier is what makes either step readable

2The two models meet at one tier, which makes the step readable

Both models price 768P and both price it at eight cents. That overlap is the useful part of this page: it fixes a reference point, so the cheaper model's 480P tier and the dearer model's 2K tier can be read as steps down and up from the same figure.

Very little else in the register lines up that neatly. Two model families usually price different resolutions entirely, which leaves a buyer comparing 720p against 768P and pretending the difference is nothing.

3Sixty per cent for a resolution step is at the gentle end here

Across the register the same increment costs anything from nothing to nearly three times. Rising from eight cents to thirteen sits well below the median, which means a production that has to deliver at the higher tier is not penalised for it as heavily as on most channels.

That changes which figure to quote. Where the step is steep, the advertised rate is close to marketing; where it is gentle, the advertised rate is close to the truth even for a buyer who ends up one tier higher.

4One model is restricted in what it accepts, and that is part of the price

The cheaper model is published as text and image to video only. A production that needs to hand the model a reference clip cannot use the five-cent tier at all, so the step from 480P to 768P is sometimes not a choice about pixels.

Reading a resolution curve without the input restrictions beside it is how a shortlist ends up containing a tier the work cannot use. The cheapest row on a page is only a candidate if the job fits inside its accepted inputs.

5Inside a generated second

Price aside, what goes into the seconds behind “MiniMax resolution step” is described in SceneMixer's guides:

Sixty to a hundred and twenty seconds is the working range for short drama, and that is what the outline paces for. A 90-second episode is typically seven segments of about fourteen seconds stacked together.

In the editor this tier is greyed out for such a segment; pick a Seedance 2.5 or Wan tier.
