Where unused credits go on SceneMixer
SceneMixer states that monthly membership credits are added to the balance and spend exactly like purchased credits, and that cancelling stops renewal at the end of the paid period. No expiry date is published for either kind. As of 2026-09-22.
| Point | What the price list states |
|---|---|
| Monthly membership credits | Added to the balance and spent like purchased credits |
| Cancelling a membership | Renewal stops at the end of the paid period |
| A lapse date for either kind | Absent from the price list |
| Price of a credit | $0.0149 in the smallest pack, $0.0078 in the largest |
Inclusion rule. Statements on the published price list bearing on credits that have arrived and not been spent. The membership page is the same document and is not treated separately. Order. What arrives first, then what happens to it.
1Where SceneMixer sits in this column
| Channel | Unused credits |
|---|---|
| Hedra | No answer, though the FAQ asks |
| HeyGen | Answered by billing cycle |
| invideo AI | A single sentence, and it is a refusal |
| Kling AI | A 180-day window, stated twice |
| Magnific | A year, with no monthly reset |
| Morph Studio | No answer on the page that asks |
| Pika | A feature bullet, not a rule |
| Runway | Three answers, one per plan |
| SceneMixer | Into one balance, with no lapse date |
| Synthesia | Not stated where the plans are priced |
Inclusion rule. Channels whose own priced pages say something about credits left unspent, including the ones that raise the question and leave it unanswered. A channel that never meters in credits has nothing to answer and is not listed. Order. Alphabetical by channel name.
2One balance means one arithmetic
Where an allowance is kept apart from purchased credits, a buyer has to track two pots with two lifetimes and guess the spending order. Merging them removes that problem entirely: the balance is a number, the rate is credits per second, and the cost of a job is one multiplication.
It also removes a hiding place. A merged balance cannot quietly expire a subset of itself, so the per-credit price published against the packs is the price of every credit in the balance, however it got there.
3An absent lapse date is a weaker promise than a stated one
No expiry published is not the same as no expiry. It means the current documents impose none, which is the best reading available and still a reading rather than a commitment. A channel that writes credits never expire has given a buyer something to hold it to; this one has given a silence.
For a production the difference shows up only at scale. Buying a large balance against a season that slips by two quarters is safe under a stated guarantee and merely probable under a silence, and the sums involved decide whether that gap matters.
4Cancellation is the boundary that is spelled out
The one time-based statement here is about renewal rather than credits: stopping a membership ends the renewal at the close of the paid period. Combined with a merged balance, that implies credits already granted stay spendable after the membership lapses.
That is the part worth checking against the account rather than the page, because it is the inference doing the work rather than the sentence. The sentence covers billing; the balance behaviour after billing stops is the consequence a buyer actually relies on.
